EMC / EMD

The Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC) and Emergency Medicine Diploma (EMD) are competency-based workplace accreditations administered by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.

These training programs are designed for career medical officers, junior medical officers and General Practitioners who wish to expand their knowledge base and skill set in emergency medicine.

The local program

Four 6-month positions are offered within our department each year, offering an opportunity for EMC/EMD candidates to complete the course requirements whilst gaining clinical experience in a major Emergency environment. Local candidates are paired with a consultant mentor to oversee and support their training. 

For candidates working in regional centres, the UHG-EMET team issues invitations to visit our department for 80 hours of placement to help satisfy the College requirements. During their time with us, each candidate engages in one-on-one supervision and teaching from an emergency consultant (FACEM)
